Reading isn't a subject here.

It's where everything begins.

Our children sit one-on-one with a teacher and learn to read whole syllables, not letters. By the time they finish Tadika Raihan, reading is simply something they do.

Our Story

A garage in PJ. A nation of readers.

Early-childhood pioneer Nooraihan Sallehuddin opened her Petaling Jaya garage to five children. Her reading method, Terus Membaca, was once demonstrated at the presidential palace in the Philippines. Her school became one of Malaysia's oldest kindergartens.

Questions parents ask

What age can my child start?

Our preschool programme is for children aged 4 to 6. If your child is turning 4 in 2027, they can join the 2027 intake. Message us if your child is younger and we'll advise.

What is Terus Membaca?

It is the school's own phono-syllabic reading method, first published in 1965 by our founder and now in its 10th edition. Children learn to read syllables and words before they learn the alphabet, with a teacher sitting one-on-one beside them.

Which languages are used in class?

Teaching is bilingual in English and Bahasa Malaysia, following the national preschool curriculum (KSPK). Mandarin and Arabic are offered as additional classes.

Do you have daycare and transport?

Yes. After-school daycare runs until 6:30 PM on weekdays, and school transport is available in and around Petaling Jaya. Ask us about your area.

How do I enrol?

Book a visit first so you and your child can see the school. After that, we'll send you the registration form and prospectus on WhatsApp or email.
